MATT NEUSTADTER
I’m Matt Neustadter and I won’t write about myself from a 3rd person perspective.
I am a passionate outdoor enthusiast who finds the most joy while being immersed in nature and submerged underwater. I have been passionate about the ocean and it’s biology before I could even define the meaning of passion. As a kid, the aquarium was my Disney… Even the fish section at Petsmart was exciting.
As I grew older, the appreciation of the sea, and the sciences for that matter, never lost its ‘amazement’ factor that was initially instilled in me from childhood. By the time I was in highschool, I excelled in the sciences but also gained a new interest in creativity. I became amazed by the functionality of cameras and their effortless ability to capture life’s fleeting moments in both stills and video (it’s still such a wild concept.) I ended up taking 4 years of media studies which became supplemented in college with different film and photography elective courses while getting a degree in marine biology.

Throughout my collegiate and professional years, I struggled to define what was a ‘career option,’ versus what was a passionate hobby. I ultimately wanted to find the harmony between passion and productivity, so I went back to school for a postgraduate degree in Advertising to pursue the creative side of branding for businesses.
I put a lot of myself into my advertising career while simultaneously working at bettering my crafts of passion. In my spare time, I studied freediving and became certified in open-water apnea & safety, took more courses on photography and video editing, and eventually started to get paid offers for the work I enjoyed most. After years of working my way into senior positions at some of the biggest named agencies such as Vice, TBWA, & DDB, I had received numerous accolades for my work and learned a lot about the industry as well as maintaining client relations. Ultimately I came to a point where I decided to leave that career path in order to pursue my own route of building value for brands through meaningful, engaging photography and videography.
